Stenorhynchus seticornis (Herbst, J.F.W.)

Distribution - Western Atlantic Ocean
Description – Size up to 6 cm in length. Long legs like a spider and an extremely pointed and dangerous head. The body has a slight golden colour with white stripes. The tips of their legs are dark violet.
Behaviour – During the day it stays hidden among sea fans and sponges of the reef however at night it comes out to hunt for food and scavenging. They become extremely territorial and may pose a threat to other species.
Temperature – Cultured specimens have high temperature tolerance and are suitable for any aquarium, from 30 ºC down to 20 ºC. The ideal temperature profile is from 25 ºC to 28 ºC.
Feeding – Stenorhynchus seticornis is a nocturnal scavenger and an omnivorous species.
Special details – They tend to live well in a community, but they show some stress when there are more than one male in the aquarium.
